Ceramica Dolomite

As the name suggests, Ceramica Dolomite was established at the foot of these beautiful mountains, in Trichiana in 1965. The Dolomites start in Belluno and go up beyond the Austrian border. For the men who live and work there, the reference made to the mountains conjures up strong personalities, firm ideas, practical purposes and solid conviction in tackling the obstacles that separate them from success. When these attitudes and purposes as a whole are transferred to a company and end up forming its "ideological" store, episodes of extraordinary entrepreneurial activity arise and grow, like the successful history of many manufacturing businesses of the area stand to show.

This entrepreneurial spirit has been the reason for Ceramica Dolomite's success in its sector. The hard work involved in cutting out a slice of the market, in creating an image, in expanding throughout Italy and abroad, in keeping its systems in step with new production technologies, and in putting together a product catalogue that never fails to meet its customers' expectations: none of this could have been achieved without a stubborn will to succeed combined with a strategic behaviour that is not only versatile, but also incessantly aimed at attaining established goals.

The results of this industrial and commercial policy were recognised within a very short time compared with the date of the company's founding. The problem of how to initially position the company in the marketplace was solved by directing production towards specific equipment, such as kitchen sinks, shower bases and community products, or introducing sanitary fixture lines highly competitive as far as prices are concerned. However, immediately thereafter the real work of setting out the brand's profile that was to characterise Ceramica Dolomite in the years to come started.

By focusing on its continuously growing production capacity, its proven sales dynamism and the new market trends, the company expanded its product catalogue, oriented itself towards products having a greater formal content and increased its number of sanitary equipment lines. Famous designers such as Marco Zanuso, Luigi Molinis and Piano Design Workshop, or designers highly specialised in the ceramic sector such as Antonio Bullo, were called in to design them. Thus the company's more recent history began, a history consisting of continuous qualitative improvements, a growing market share, the acquisition of Ceramiche Senesi, a progressive valorisation of the brand, expanded exports, and innovation and expansion of the product range with the introduction of furniture for sinks, bathtubs and taps and fittings.

With its acquired position of strength in the market, in 1999 Ceramica Dolomite entered to become part of the largest world group in the bathroom equipment sector, American Standard. Side by side with Ideal Standard in this field, Ceramica Dolomite is destined to play its Italian and international role with even greater resources.
